Meta Verified Service Launches in US with Blue Badge at USD 11.99 per Month

Social media verification has been a hot topic in recent years, and now Meta Platforms has entered the fray with its new subscription service to allow users to pay for verification on Facebook and Instagram. The Meta Verified service will give users a blue badge after successfully verifying their accounts with a government ID and will cost $11.99 (nearly Rs. 990) per month.

This move follows in the footsteps of Snap-owned Snapchat, Telegram, and Twitter, which is now owned by Elon Musk. All these companies have been diversifying away from their reliance on advertising revenue and introducing subscription services. Twitter's Blue subscription service, for example, allows people to pay for the blue check mark, which was previously limited to verified accounts of politicians, journalists, and other public figures.

Meta Verified's service is an extension of this trend. After verifying their accounts with a government ID, users will receive a blue badge that will be displayed on their profile, giving them access to exclusive content, discounts, and other benefits. The service will cost $11.99 (nearly Rs. 990) per month on the web or $14.99 (nearly Rs. 1,240) a month on Apple's iOS system and Google-owned Android.

Meta is currently testing the service in the US and is looking to expand it to other countries in the near future. The company has also promised to offer further features in the future, such as the ability to change user profiles and get access to exclusive content in their subscription package.

Meta's new subscription service is the latest in a series of moves by social media companies to diversify their revenue sources. The service is now available in the US and is sure to be welcomed by the many users who have been seeking verification on the various platforms. We would love to hear your thoughts on the new service, so please leave a comment below.
